Somebodies at home
is a collection of comic drawings made in response to the intimate world of cloistered living during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic.
we were already homeschooling when the shutdown process began and therefore our life at home remained relatively the same. Even so, I chopped off all my hair, we got really into legos and we even hopped on the making bread trend.
This series was created after that initial year at home and intentionally highlights my experience as a home bound mom who found deep solace in being alone with screen tech, doing crafts and being near my spouse. I intentionally removed my children as characters in these comics whilst firmly maintaining the mother identity to isolate myself within the intimate relationship structures in family life. I want privacy, and I drew myself into a private world.
in 2022, Two drawings were featured in "painting at Night" an exhibition hosted by the artist/mother podcast at Collar works in New York. This series is also featured in the 2026 FLuke Fanzine: From the ground down. Eventually I made the drawings into zines to sell that didn't turn out the way I wanted. Because I really love these images, I am considering remaking the zine directly from the drawings to the bed of my scanner. Always in process!
