Private Thoughts is a long form writing and publishing project in which i transcribe, print and distribute my summer diaries for five summers from 2024 to 2028. Because i'm naturally curious about what is and can be made at the intersection of domestic life and poetic creation, and because I have always, since early childhood, written to myself in a diary, this projects exists as an opportunity to illuminate and formalize unrevised, spontaneous writing, writing that exists inside the struggle and beauty of regular life.
all diaries are first written by hand in blank, unlined 8.5" x 5.5" sketchbooks. Later, in the fall, after the books have rested for a bit, i transcribe them into apple pages on my computer. Very little revision occurs between transcription and printing; i change names, check for typos, remove a few things, rearrange a teeny tiny bit and that's it! Text is printed on my Risograph SF5130 on French Paper. Cover art is a handmade collage xeroxed at a local copy shop. Books are individually machine folded, assembled and stapled by hand and then made available for purchase.
